Anybody who’s bought a property since 2008 will have had an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC). These give a rating from A – G of how ‘efficient’ the property is, and will provide automatically generated recommendations for improvements.
Unfortunately, EPCs are rarely tailored and don’t tell the whole picture. For example, most EPCs have been produced using outdated carbon emission factors, therefore providing misleading advice particularly regarding decarbonising a home’s heating system.
During our net zero surveys, we'll visit your home to provide advice specific to your property's age, condition and your future plans, to provide you with a realistic pathway to making your home a net zero home.
During this visit, we will look at everything using energy in your home and make recommendations for improvements to insulation, heat retention, electrical usage, on-site generation (e.g. solar) and heat decarbonisation.
Note that an in-person visit is only available if you live in an Edinburgh postcode area (EH). For anybody outside of this area, a virtual assessment can be undertaken.
Access to loft spaces and basements / crawl spaces is beneficial, so please prepare for this in advance.
