CARBON FOOTPRINTING AND PROJECTIONS

Conducting a carbon footprint and fully understanding where emissions are coming from is the first step in understanding how to reduce your emissions.

AfZ’s director Chris Joyce has been developing carbon footprints using the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol for 10+ years, holds a qualification in Advanced Carbon Footprinting (Northumbria University), and was previously a Carbon Trust Standard assessor.

We are able to conduct a carbon footprint across all three 'scopes' outlined in the GHG Protocol:

• Scope 1: Direct emissions, such as fuels burned in company vehicles and boilers.
• Scope 2: Indirect emissions, such as the electricity or heat you purchase.
• Scope 3: Emissions not directly in your control, including emissions from your employees' commutes, your supply chain and disposal of goods.

Over several years across varied projects, we have developed a complex emissions projections tool which projects how different investment scenarios can impact future emissions of buildings & transport.

This enables organisations to understand the scale of future investment required to decarbonise their activities, compared to a 'business as usual' scenario.
