In most instances, the most challenging (yet impactful) way to decarbonise a building is to decarbonise it's heating system.
A heat decarbonisation plan (HDP) analyses and costs multiple opportunities for decarbonising a building's heating system. It will set out a recommended route map for decarbonising heat.
This is often a complex process, which is very specific to the type and condition of the existing heating system in a building, as well as each building's ability to retain heat.
We have experience producing - and critically analysing - HDPs for public and private sector clients in complex buildings including:
Our HDPs go beyond the minimum requirements set out in the Salix HDP guidance.
Some HDPs produced in the industry only go as far as "a heat pump could be suitable but further studies will need to be undertaken to establish if the existing radiators are sufficient".
In contrast, we can offer a room-by-room heat loss calculation to establish if radiator and pipework sizing is likely sufficient, or needs to be upgraded, to give you absolute clarity of the scale and cost of required works and help to make an informed decision.
